Maple baked beans with grilled hot dog and chips

Maple baked beans with bacon are a favorite summer time staple around our farm. This recipe is an adaptation of one that my mom always made growing up.

We’d often have this quick baked beans recipe, which included brown sugar, salted onion, crispy bacon and a few other ingredients, added to our favorite brand of Bush’s baked beans. It’s a quick recipe since it also used the microwave.

After cooking the flavors together it was always a favorite side dish for any summer meal when we’d grill brats, hamburgers or hotdogs. It was (and still is) better with salty potato chips!

This version takes a twist on my mom’s recipe by adding real maple syrup. One of my own family’s favorite ingredients, since we make real maple syrup right here on our farm — making it our own favorite recipe for maple beans.
